A Wedding at the Garden of the Gods Club, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Meet Kate and Joe!  One of the first things I recall about meeting Kate was thinking "wow, we are going to be good friends".  Kate was kind, funny and very relaxed about her wedding.  In fact, so relaxed and fun that I noticed everyone that she came into contact with said the same thing about Kate - that they considered her not only a client, but a friend. Kate loved the movie Mama Mia and so she brought in many accents from the movie to her wedding day including some yummy Limoncello at her reception.  They wanted their guests to see all the beauty that Colorado had to offer, so choosing the Garden of the Gods Club was an easy choice.  Deer frequently walk thru the property and you can't beat the view.

Enjoy!

A Wedding at The Country Club at Castle Pines - Castle Rock, CO

Meet Lauren and Bret.  Lauren sparkles and Bret adores her. Mutual friends set them up and Lauren hilariously recalls "I almost didn't go through with it but my Dad encouraged me to go meet Bret.  When Bret opened the door, well - that was the end of that!".  Funny how those things happen!

We planned for some amazing portraits at The Country Club at Castle Pines because the views were so stunning.  However, on their wedding day, the weather had other ideas.  Unfortunately, we had freezing rain and very low temps, but Lauren and Bret were troopers and braved the elements for some stunning portraits!

A beautiful ceremony was officiated by Reverend Cynthia James from Mile Hi Church.

We continued to get lots of photo treats - Bret's groomsmen performed acoustically and received lots of cheers and "bravos" but Lauren brought down the house with her rendition of "At Last" by Etta James!  The entire venue roared with applause and too many "bravos" to count!  Of course, Bret couldn't take his eyes off of her the entire time!

Cheers (and many BRAVOS) to Lauren and Bret for a happy and everlasting marriage!

Enjoy!

A Donovan Pavilion Wedding - Vail, Colorado

Finally I am back to blogging after a very busy summer and fall! You know how there are weddings where there isn't a dry eye in the house?  Well, this is NOT one of them.  Let me elaborate - with this wedding - THERE WAS NEVER A DULL MOMENT!

Meet Kyle and Erica.  I knew upon meeting Kyle and Erica that I would be laughing all day long with them and wondering if I should take anything Kyle said seriously.  He was *that* funny!  And, when they revealed that when they would be pronounced husband and wife, they were going to be doing Irish Car Bomb shots - I knew that I had to photograph this wedding!  I honestly loved the light-hearted hilariousness that ensued all day!

Enjoy!

A Funny One...Denver Photographer

Here's a pretty funny photo from a recent wedding at Garden of the Gods Club in Colorado Springs...too cute!

Sometimes I get requests to do a "jumping" photo, however there always seems to be one person who is slightly off...see what I mean?  (Haha).

A Larkspur, Colorado Wedding - Crooked Willow Farms

Meet Tiffany and Kevin! They had a gorgeous Colorado wedding at one of my favorite venues, Crooked Willow Farms.

The weather wasn't cooperating that day, so unfortunately the wedding ceremony had to be moved into Lola's Loft, which made a beautiful setting for a wedding ceremony!  After a typical Colorado afternoon shower passed by, we were outside again enjoying the lovely surroundings!

Enjoy!

A Recent Favorite - Leslee and Juan at Crooked Willow Farms - Larkspur, Colorado

Here is a recent image from a wedding at one of my favorite venues, Crooked Willow Farms.  We stole a few moments away from the reception while guests were enjoying their meal to capture some really beautiful shots at sunset.  Crooked Willow Farms is a perfect venue for a wedding - offering that rustic charm, lots of space and privacy and tons of different locations for photos! Enjoy!

A Recent Favorite - Lauren and Bret's Castle Pines Country Club Wedding - Castle Rock, Colorado

It doesn't look 25 degrees in this photo, does it?  On October 6th we had a deep freeze!  I can't remember the last time I photographed in freezing rain!  Anyway, Lauren and Bret were complete and total troopers!!!  The lighting was amazing and they braved the cold to do photos of their "first look" outside.  I am forever grateful - this image (one of many) was simply divine!

One Sweet Little Moment - Denver Wedding Photographer

I recently saw a post in one of the photography forums asking the question "what is the number one draw for inspiration in your work?".  I had to sit there and think and, to be honest, got a little irritated with myself because I could think of a few things, but not just one.  I moved on to other posts on Facebook and promptly forgot about this one.

While editing recently, I came across this really special moment.  And then I knew.  I knew what my #1 inspiration in my own work was:  connection.  I love being connected to my clients, their families and friends.  I love witnessing their connections with each other.  I love how they trust me with these tender moments and let me into their lives to witness and record one of the most sacred things between a couple:  the forming of a new family.  They let me see them at some of their more vulnerable moments - crying with happiness (and sadness), laughing, dancing, drinking, elation and, at times, frustration.  In these moments, memories are made and I'm ever so grateful to be witnessing and recording them!

Wedding Tip #1 - Knowing What Time the Sun Goes Down on Your Wedding Day - Denver Wedding Photographer

I thought it would be a good idea to offer some helpful wedding photography tips to planning brides and grooms.  So, here we go!

I'm a huge fan of variety - in lighting and locations!  The more variety in both, the better!  So, when helping a bride plan her timeline for the day, I research what time sunset will be and let her know.  I suggest taking the bride and groom out of the reception to do some fun and relaxed portraits during sunset or the magic hour - which is right after sunset but before it gets completely dark.

Enjoy this beautiful sunset from a wedding in Steamboat Springs!

An Evergreen Engagement Session - Evergreen, Colorado

First, I am reading "Eat, Pray, Love" again.  I love that book!  It has nothing to do with being engaged, but it does have everything to do with writing the most luscious sentences that flow every so lovingly together, Elizabeth Gilbert has a way with words!  I shall make a meager attempt now....if nothing else, this shall make us both laugh! Meet Lauren, an actress and Bret - her soulmate.   How do I know?  Well, after watching people and studying them and waiting for moments to happen- seeing expressions on faces, loving gestures, a smile with just the eyes - and, let us not forget a "deep, hot stare" - I think I know.   The looks they gave each other could melt steel.

On to the photos - it's clear I must take an official writing class of some sort - or keep reading "Eat, Pray, Love"

Enjoy!

A Golden Engagement Session - Golden, Colorado

Meet Erin and Chris!  I met Erin when I did my Yoga Teacher Training in Costa Rica.  They are the perfect Colorado couple - they love the outdoors!  Erin has a thing for heart rocks and, of course, we had to look for one during the session - low and behold, Chris found one and he gave Erin his "heart"...I love these two!

Can't wait for your wedding!

Enjoy!

A Denver Four Seasons Wedding - LoDo, Denver, Colorado

Meet Jill and Dave - they had a wonderful wedding at the Four Seasons in LoDo!  Jill and Dave share the love for traveling far and wide, so each guest was given a copy of the book "Oh, the Places You'll Go" by Dr. Suess.  Each book was placed on the seat of every chair and each table was named after a city or country that they had been to together or were going to visit on their honeymoon.  Dave made a hilarious comment during his welcome toast claiming the reason for the two of them departing from the church in a cab was actually how they met (he exiting a cab, she getting in the cab) and not that they forgot to arrange transportation to the wedding reception!

Enjoy!

A City Wedding at the Denver Athletic Club, Denver - Colorado

Meet Anne and Jake - the perfect urban couple!  I mean it when I say they really, REALLY compliment each other!  I was excited to shoot at the Denver Athletic Club, especially when I saw the view from their 5th floor parking garage!

Anne's family presented a quilt to the newlyweds, a family tradition (and quite a surprise!).  Each square was made by a family member.

One question:  Have you ever seen a groom melt?  I certainly did at this wedding - Anne lovingly sang Ingrid Michaelson's "The Way I Am" to Jake and he literally melted.  It was awesome!

Enjoy!

Instagram Junkie

My name is Paige Eden and I am an Instagram Junkie!

I was recently in Hawaii for a wedding and  spent a few extra days there - here is a good representation of what we did - lots of hiking, a catamaran ride, eating fresh Poke, photographing a personal project and attempting (and summiting) the Haiku Stairs (aka Stairway to Heaven).

It was a blast - enjoy!

The Broadmoor has decided to feature Lindsey and Michael's wedding in their "in house" magazine that they leave in every guest room!  We are super excited!

A Tropical Wedding - O'ahu, Hawaii

Natalie and Ben got married at the Sheraton Waikiki, which is conveniently next door to one of the oldest (and most romantic) hotels in Honolulu, the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.  We did the majority of the photos before the wedding at the Royal Hawaiian and then straight into the reception where we feasted on some of the tastiest food and wine and talked story with family and friends - Natalie and Ben then did a hilarious money dance, of which I've never seen (though I doubt they've seen a chicken dance, come to think of it) and called it a night. I've had the honor of knowing Natalie for over 25 years and I'm incredibly humbled and grateful for her having me photograph her wedding!  Her family and friends became my family and friends and I will always treasure these memories for the rest of my life!

To Natalie and Ben:  Kampai, Mabuhay and Cheers!  May you have a blessed marriage full of happiness and love!

Enjoy!
