Meet Laura and la familia, with their newest addition, adorable Mila. Honestly, it did take a few weeks to get on Laura's calendar to do this portrait session. Can you blame her? It's summer time and with 2 kids and a newborn, she certainly has no shortage of activities and things to do! And, to be honest (again), I had met Mila long before - at Laura's maternity session and officially when she was about an hour old! Laura had a really specific vision for this session, mainly "I want the session in our bedroom and I want the kids to do whatever they want". Of course, that entailed jumping on the bed, watching cartoons and lots of laughing and being goofy! I loved how she just wanted to really capture her family just being themselves in their own sanctuary. Reese and Owen are so fun to photograph, both very expressive in their own individual ways. It was also hilarious (says the one who doesn't have kids) to get a shot of Laura just being a Mom, exasperatingly giving up on trying to get a photo of the 3 of them with baby Mila at the top of the stairs. What can you do? As I've learned and witnessed over the many years of being a photographer, when children are involved, you just have to see what you get! I love surprises! And, I love this family to the moon and back! Enjoy!

Meet Laura - I'm sure some of you know of Laura. We are both photographers. We met many years ago and, way back in the day, helped and inspired each other to grow our wedding photography businesses. There were no on-line forums or photography groups that you could learn from like there are today - we just had each other and another dear friend - Jamee. We were the 3 musketeers. We would meet and talk about our businesses - our ups, downs and the challenges we had. Jamee was the first to get married and both Laura and I photographed her wedding. Laura was the second to get married and Jamee photographed her wedding (I was unfortunately working that day). We were close and we still are.
I was pleasantly surprised when Laura told me she was expecting her third child! Wow! How life ebbs and flows! I was fortunate to have photographed her two other pregnancies, so I insisted on this one as well! It's amazing that no matter where the 3 of us are in our lives, we can just pick up right where we left off and not miss a beat.
To my lovely, lovely girlfriends - You are in my hearts, forever. I love you both so dearly, words could never express how much you mean to me!
With Lots of Love!
It's only appropriate to post some photos of a great family session from summer while there is snow on the ground! Okay, reality is that I just got back from traveling to Southeast Asia and I'm very behind in updating my blog!
Meet Lisa, Bill and little Blake. We had the most fun during this session running around and Blake was so curious about the tall grasses, tree bark and cozy stream. Enjoy!
One of our favorite wedding blogs, Couture Colorado, has expanded their blogging goodness! We are thrilled to have our work featured on Couture Colorado Baby! One of my all-time favorite coordinators, Ashley Summers, entrusted me with photographing her newborn baby girl, Storey. To view the photos, click on this link A Styled Shoot for Storey. My favorite part of the shoot was, of course, Storey! She was a pro and slept through most of the shoot. The frame was actually a mirror that I found at a thrift store for $12. I may have 7 years of bad luck by breaking the mirror, but I made some beautiful memories for Ashley, Phil and Storey! Enjoy!
Well, I can definitely tell it's wedding season! My poor blog has been neglected! The good news is that I have a lot of really fun images to share with you, the bad news is that it seems like there is not enough time in the day to set aside for blogging! I will do my best!
This is Meagan and Ian - their wedding took place in September, 2005! Yes, 2005! I have loved this image ever since their wedding and have used it extensively for my marketing and have even tried to replicate it, but failed! The image was taken at the Denver Botanical Gardens and they have gone under major art installations and renovations since then, so this area looks drastically different!
I am honored that they chose me to photograph their wedding and continue to be thankful that they not only entrusted me with their wedding day, but I am also documenting their growing family!
Meet Melissa - it's really funny because she's a photographer and it seems like I know (and hang out with) a lot of photographers! There is nothing more flattering and also nerve-racking than taking another photographer's portrait. No pressure! We laughed and had a good time! And, most importantly, she's happy with the photos (big sigh of relief!).
We love these! Handmade with love by the artisans at Cypress Albums, these are elegant and modern! Perfect for a window, office desk or bedroom - fill with family or children portraits, weddings or whatever strikes your fancy!
Meet Jamee, she is a dear friend of mine and a fellow photographer. We've known each other for a very long time - we've both been sounding boards for ideas and creative processes and the challenges that come along with being business owners and artists! I have been honored by our friendship photographing Jamee's wedding back in the day (film!!) along with fellow photographer Laura Esmond and also documented Jamee's first pregnancy with Frankie. Now, she and Joe have #2, Max - due to enter this world any day now! Jamee sent me the most heartfelt message after viewing the photos, which honestly made me feel so very grateful! A few of her words: "Wow, you have such a gift, thank you for letting me see me. I have never felt so beautiful." Enjoy!
Today, I proudly walked beside my sister in the Race for the Cure. It's quite fitting that we took a new portrait of her today, with her short, sassy hair do. Honestly, I took 2 photos of her and we were done but, she's quite possibly the most photogenic person on the planet! Breast cancer touches everyone in some way - we must fight this disease with everything that we have! I urge you to donate what you can to the Race for the Cure or just make a lifestyle change for yourself in some way! Eat organic whenever possible, skip fast food and processed food, exercise - do something in order to prolong your life!
