Traveling to Costa Rica – A Yoga Adventure…..continues04.30.12

When we weren’t doing yoga, we would go into town – Puerto Viejo was just a short 15 minute drive away.  Puerto Viejo was an adorable surf town – right on the beach and a visual feast for me!  We had dinner one night in a restaurant and apparently every evening at the same time, a sloth would appear and cross a beam in the restaurant.  It was quite a sight!

Enjoy!

Traveling to Costa Rica – A Yoga Adventure…continues04.28.12

The wildlife in Costa Rica was unreal!  Snakes, howling monkeys, humming birds, toucans, parrots, scorpions, lizards, sloths – you name it!  If you just stood still, the jungle would just move!  It was both amazing and a bit unnerving at the same time!  On my third night there, a scorpion fell from the ceiling on to my bed – after that, I had a mosquito net!  Most favorite: waking up at 5:30am to howling monkeys.  Least favorite:  the cockroaches as big as a taco tortilla.  Enjoy!

The Most Sacred Place in Hawai’i03.05.12

Here are some photos that are way overdue from my trip back home to O’ahu in November!

Welcome to the most sacred place in Hawaii.  This is Kukaniloko, known as the royal birthing stones.  This site was one of two sites set aside for the birth of royalty in Hawai’i.  There are 36 stones stones here, 18 on the left and 18 on the right.  The Ali’i (royalty) wanted their children born here for its spiritual power and only the Ali’i were allowed to set foot upon this ground.  The Hawaiians believed that the gods recognized a child born here.

I have to say when I went here, it was so peaceful.  You can *feel* this place.  The area is surrounded by tall eucalyptus trees and a sugar cane field.  It’s only about 5 minutes off a main highway and it’s not really marked.  It’s so sacred that many people leave leis and other offerings.  When I was there, someone had left a wedding bouquet and lei – so amazing!

Enjoy!

Lindsey and Michael’s Wedding at the Broadmoor (Part 1)11.07.11

I’m often asked what is my favorite part of the wedding day to photograph, which is a really hard question to answer!  But, I’d have to say that when a bride is getting ready for her wedding, that is one of my favorite times of the day.  There is so much excitement and anticipation happening.  After all, all the dreams, decisions and planning are all coming together!

Thank You Cards11.05.11

I’m about to blog one of my favorite weddings from the year – but I thought I’d start by going backwards with Lindsey’s Thank You card.  We incorporated colors from the wedding and I really love the brown toned photos!

From top to bottom – the front, inside and back of the card…..

Enjoy!

Off Topic But Worth the Read…(oh, and make sure you watch the video)10.14.11

My brother-in-law is one kick ass guy!

One day he shared with me his strategies on goal setting and REACHING.  He sent me his top six steps for setting and achieving your goals:

1)  Put it to paper. It doesn’t matter how lofty your goals seem, just write them down. Be sure to set goals that add balance to your life. Set goals for every area of your life.

2)  Only set goals that excite you. You’ll need the fuel of enthusiasm to propel you toward your target.

3)  Prioritize. What do you want to tackle first? Put your goals in numerical order, from your first priority to the last.

4)  Chunk it down. Break down each goal into bite-size pieces. What do you need to DO to achieve your outcome? Be specific.

5)  Start the clock. Set deadlines for your main goals and also for the incremental pieces you identified in step three. A goal without a deadline is just wishful thinking.

And finally, take action. This is the most important component of goal achievement. You must DO something every day that moves you closer to your goal.  Remember, desire is no substitute for action. Only actions produce results.
