This says it all! Enjoy!
When we weren’t doing yoga, we would go into town – Puerto Viejo was just a short 15 minute drive away. Puerto Viejo was an adorable surf town – right on the beach and a visual feast for me! We had dinner one night in a restaurant and apparently every evening at the same time, a sloth would appear and cross a beam in the restaurant. It was quite a sight!
Enjoy!
The wildlife in Costa Rica was unreal! Snakes, howling monkeys, humming birds, toucans, parrots, scorpions, lizards, sloths – you name it! If you just stood still, the jungle would just move! It was both amazing and a bit unnerving at the same time! On my third night there, a scorpion fell from the ceiling on to my bed – after that, I had a mosquito net! Most favorite: waking up at 5:30am to howling monkeys. Least favorite: the cockroaches as big as a taco tortilla. Enjoy!
Where does one begin on trying to write about such a transformational experience?
First, I can’t say enough about Peak Beings and Troy McPeak. Troy is an amazing teacher! His knowledge, experience, calm nature and patience in teaching was really just a perfect fit for me.
Also, the setting was beautiful and very nuturing: Samasati Nature Retreat was located in the jungle, far away from any distractions (FAR, FAR away – haha). We were fed vegetarian meals and surrounded by all the jungle your imagination could offer – toucans, howling monkeys, sloths, everything! It was a very unique experience! More photos to come on just the animal life there! And, still yet, more photos to come on the visits to Puerto Viejo – a surf town located just a 15 minute drive from the reserve.
Being immersed in this beautiful setting with a great group of people was just a heart opening experience! I learned so much about myself and yoga and made some really great friends! Enjoy the photos!
I was incredibly lucky to spend a month in Costa Rica back in January to become a certified yoga teacher! My trip was amazing in so many different ways, I don’t know where to begin. The scenery was raw and beautiful, my yoga experience was transformational and I met some really great people along the way!
There were so many photo “experiences” that I just can’t digest them all into one or two blog posts (my head would explode, haha). So, I will be putting together a series of posts. It only seems fair to start with something really dramatic, like a black sand beach located in Puerto Viejo – Playa Negra. My friend Alicia was kind enough to do some yoga poses for me (and cover herself with black sand!)….
Enjoy!
Yes – Glamour Shots – you read that correctly! I’m playing around with something new – portraits of women who are strong AND sexy! Inspired by Sue Bryce, I’m attempting to learn her way of posing and lighting. She does incredible work! Contact me if you are interested in a portrait!
Enjoy!
It was my last day in paradise – I went on a nice hike to a waterfall, but the lighting conditions were not good for photos. I sat quietly contemplating my trip – the laughter and tears, the beautiful sights and hikes, sunrises, sunsets – amazing people. Then, I saw these bright colored leaves and noticed the water around the small pool was very calm. What’s a photographer to do? I started to photograph this beautiful leaf sitting on a rock – but I could not get rid of my reflection! I tried different angles and camera settings, but I could still see myself reflecting in the water. So, I thought – why fight it? I started to play and this is one of my favorites out of the bunch – looking to the sky to get my profile.
Enjoy!
These are amazing, love and miss you
