Downtown Denver Engagement Session – Denver, Colorado10.08.12

Meet Sarah and Brendan!  We got right down to some fun starting at Commons Park and continuing on walking and exploring different parts of the Platte River and surrounding areas.  I loved Sarah’s bright dress and knew we should head over by Elitches to check out the murals under Speer Boulevard.  I was quite happy and they were quite playful!!  Both Sarah and Brendan were into having fun and being spontaneous and, honestly – that’s when the best photos happen – unplanned and relaxed!

Enjoy!

Grace St. Stephens Church and Broadmoor’s Cheyenne Lodge Wedding – Colorado Springs, Colorado09.26.12

Meet Patterson and Patrick!  They had a stunning wedding at Grace St. Stephens Church and a beautiful reception at Broadmoor’s Cheyenne Lodge.  In addition to Patterson and Patrick being so kind, fun and gracious, there were so many things I loved about this wedding!  Their first look was so emotional – I don’t even think they were prepared for the tears as no one (not even us) had anything handy to dry the tears that flowed!   Patrick and his niece Izzy had the cutest matching dimples!!  And, I loved how close Patterson was to all of her girlfriends!  The handkerchief had each of her girlfriend’s initials and wedding date embroidered on it – accompanying each new bride/friend down the aisle on each of their own wedding days!

Enjoy!

One Sweet Little Moment – Denver Wedding Photographer09.18.12

I recently saw a post in one of the photography forums asking the question “what is the number one draw for inspiration in your work?”.  I had to sit there and think and, to be honest, got a little irritated with myself because I could think of a few things, but not just one.  I moved on to other posts on Facebook and promptly forgot about this one.

While editing recently, I came across this really special moment.  And then I knew.  I knew what my #1 inspiration in my own work was:  connection.  I love being connected to my clients, their families and friends.  I love witnessing their connections with each other.  I love how they trust me with these tender moments and let me into their lives to witness and record one of the most sacred things between a couple:  the forming of a new family.  They let me see them at some of their more vulnerable moments – crying with happiness (and sadness), laughing, dancing, drinking, elation and, at times, frustration.  In these moments, memories are made and I’m ever so grateful to be witnessing and recording them!

Enjoy!

Wedding Tip #1 – Knowing What Time the Sun Goes Down on Your Wedding Day – Denver Wedding Photographer09.15.12

I thought it would be a good idea to offer some helpful wedding photography tips to planning brides and grooms.  So, here we go!

I’m a huge fan of variety – in lighting and locations!  The more variety in both, the better!  So, when helping a bride plan her timeline for the day, I research what time sunset will be and let her know.  I suggest taking the bride and groom out of the reception to do some fun and relaxed portraits during sunset or the magic hour – which is right after sunset but before it gets completely dark.

Enjoy this beautiful sunset from a wedding in Steamboat Springs!

A Downtown Denver Engagement Session – Byron White United States Courthouse, Denver, Colorado09.11.12

Meet Tiffany and Kevin.  We had a super fun engagement session all over Lodo.  We started at the Byron White Courthouse on Stout Street – had a quick cocktail at Harry’s Bar in the Magnolia Hotel and then headed to Larimer Square and ended up at the Corner Office Famous yellow wall.  You know you are having fun when at the end of the session, your couple does the Worm!  Yeah!

Enjoy!

A Breckenridge Wedding – Breckenridge, Colorado09.10.12

Meet Pamela and Steve – the had a wonderful wedding at Mountain Thunder Lodge in Breckenridge.  Pamela’s father made the wedding arch and since Steve is a doctor, the Groom’s cake was rather funny – anyone remember the board game “Operation”?  During the reception, a fox hung out and watched the festivities.

Enjoy!

An Evergreen Engagement Session – Evergreen, Colorado08.29.12

First, I am reading “Eat, Pray, Love” again.  I love that book!  It has nothing to do with being engaged, but it does have everything to do with writing the most luscious sentences that flow every so lovingly together, Elizabeth Gilbert has a way with words!  I shall make a meager attempt now….if nothing else, this shall make us both laugh!

Meet Lauren, an actress and Bret – her soulmate.   How do I know?  Well, after watching people and studying them and waiting for moments to happen- seeing expressions on faces, loving gestures, a smile with just the eyes – and, let us not forget a “deep, hot stare” – I think I know.   The looks they gave each other could melt steel.

On to the photos – it’s clear I must take an official writing class of some sort – or keep reading “Eat, Pray, Love”

Enjoy!

A Golden Engagement Session – Golden, Colorado08.21.12

Meet Erin and Chris!  I met Erin when I did my Yoga Teacher Training in Costa Rica.  They are the perfect Colorado couple – they love the outdoors!  Erin has a thing for heart rocks and, of course, we had to look for one during the session – low and behold, Chris found one and he gave Erin his “heart”…I love these two!

Can’t wait for your wedding!

Enjoy!

Yoga Meets Nascar – Denver Engagement Session08.17.12

Things that compliment each other – like Yin and Yang, Sun and Moon, Peanut Butter and Chocolate and Yoga and Nascar – wait a minute?  Whaaat?

Meet Colleen and Joe – one of the loveliest couples!  Colleen and I hit it off right away – we talked about yoga and how it has impacted our lives – in a way, we were soul sisters.  Joe loved his truck and wanted his pride and joy somehow incorporated into the engagement session – the photo you see is how it evolved – Joe with his truck and Colleen with her yoga melding perfectly together in this setting of scenic Colorado.

Enjoy!
